Happy Easter Holiday Weekend!

This was a great holiday weekend. Now I could use a day to rest/clean.

Thursday night, I picked Chelsea up from the sitters and we went shopping. I was hoping to get new shoes for Easter for her and tops for me. She got flip flops and I got face cloths. :) We had a great gils night out though.

Friday morning we packed up and headed to Wasaga Beach to visit the McDonald family. We took our Wii remotes and Mii's (the Wii people we created that look like us) with us. The kids were so excited to go. As usual they thought the drive was really long. We stopped at Wendy's along the way for lunch. The kids do so much better at places like that now. It was busy and we had to sit at two tables that neighbored each other. TJ and I at one, Alex, Chelsea, & Perry at the other. Perry went to get hte food, while he was gone TJ & I played Rock, Paper, Scissors and had a blast. Alex & Chelsea did the same. They are all such cool kids!
Of course our vist went well, the kids had a great time, with some minor incideences, as kids do, especially when there's 5 of them. lol It was after 11:00pm before they finally settled for the night.

Saturday, we spent the mornig and most of the afternoon at Wasaga. Barb and I headed out kidless to WallMart after lunch and did a little shopping. I got a zipper sweater that I love and it looks good on me. I also found shoes for Chelsea, sadly they were a bit too big. We got home around 5:00pm. Alex & Chelsea slept almost the entire trip home. When we pulled into the driveway Alex said that was a fast trip. He also asked where all the big hills went. He's too funny! He slept right through it all.
After supper, Kathryn & Matthew came over to pick up the boots I offered to her for Matthew and invired them to come in. A few minutes later Kelly, Rod, & Samantha came. The 5 kids made lots of noise, had a couple of incidents, and had a lot of fun too. Perry & Rod spent their whole time out in the garage while Kelly, Kathryn, & I had a couple glasses of wine and chatted.

Sunday it was a day for homework, baths & showers before heading over to Marilyn's & Doug's for Easter supper. All the family was there and again the kids all had a blast. Aunt Nanny had a easter egg hunt with baggies ready for all the kids with their names on them. Once again there is too much chocolate in our home.
Driving home I told the kids that tomorrow they go to the sitters for the day because there's no school and mom & dad have to work. TJ was majorly upset by that. He couldn't understand why we have to work on Easter Monday. Later he told me he wished he didn't have to go to school. These two events lead us into a heavy discussion about how lucky we are for our place in the world, how kids in some places are not allowed to go to school and have to go to war instead. How their mom's and dad's got caught in the war and are dead. About how lucky we are to have a home, food, water, clothes, heat, and light. We talked about people who have some stuff like we do, but not all. He told me there are people who live on the street and asked if they went to school. I told him "No, and they don't go to work either". At first he thought they were lucky, until I asked him if he wanted to live on the street. I could see him really thinking about what that would really be likie. He finally said "No". Our sweet little boy has a social conscious. He went to bed grateful for what we do have and no longer totally distraught by going to the sitters tomorrow or to school the rest of the week. I'm so proud of him. I know in my heart he has the power within to do great things for the world someday. I hope I have the right stuff to help him develop what he needs to bring it out and use it.
